5 Habits I’m aiming to develop as a new mom
(Motherhood journey: 10 weeks before due date)
Here are some habits I’ve been thinking about incorporating that could help set me up for success as a new mom.
“Success” as an Efficient Mama to me means being able to take a rest without worrying about the laundry, reducing mom guilt, and generally feeling more on top of things in a world where the newborn is the boss and I have limited control. These habits are some things that I feel will make a difference in the new lifestyle!
1) Laundry
Do a load of laundry a day, first thing in the morning (“morning” would mean anytime we wake up past 5am)
2) Exercise
Change into athletic wear first thing in the morning (months after having a baby I hope to have an exercise routine, so this habit of putting on athletic wear in the morning is aimed to trigger me into an exercise habit down the line)
3) Meals
Decide on 3 favorite healthy breakfasts and 3 favorite healthy lunches to rotate through so that I don’t have to think about what to get at the grocery store and I can get a variety without getting bored
4) Work
When I need to segue back into work, pick the 2 days a week that I’m the most likely to have bookings. Have theme days for the other days I’m not working (“theme day” could mean like the one day a week I decide to go to the dry cleaners/grocery store, the day I decide to do certain cleaning activities, the day I make space for admin work that I can do even when the baby is with me, etc.)
5) Wardrobe
Look into prepping a postpartum capsule wardrobe (I’ve never created one before!). I know that I’ll be opting for comfort as much as possible but that doesn’t mean I can’t have some outfits in place to make me feel some semblance of being put together.
I’ll delve into some of these more as I continue to prepare!
What kind of habits are you thinking about?
